'Black Panther Wakanda Forever'

Anamorphics are the go-to lenses in DP Autumn Durald Arkapaw's kit. "There's a nostalgic feeling you get from older glass, and that's what I tend to shoot with." Durald says. "These Panavision T series are softer, flare beautifully and have a dreamy quality."
About the camera choice she add: "It is always my intention to try anything I make and shoot look like film. And I try do do as much as possible in-camera. The color science with the Sony camera was very important for me. It kind of gives it that personality and texture and density."

CAMERAS

Sony Alta Venice

Sony Alta Venice

The VENICE camera is Sony's first full-frame sensor high-end digital cinematography camera. It is unmatched in the Sony range for the wide array of recording formats it supports, and features Dual Base ISO 500/ISO 2500.

This Sony Venice is meant to provide you with just the amount of camera you need, so you don't have to invest in more than necessary. It features a full-frame CMOS sensor with 15+ stops of dynamic range, but in its basic configuration it windows the sensor to shoot Super 35. The camera comes with a removable PL Mount that supports the Cooke /i Technology lens metadata protocols.

Eight integrated and motorized ND filters range from clear to seven stops of ND in one-stop increments. The camera features a built-in assistant-side info screen, along with a smaller basic info display screen on the operator side of the camera.

LENSES

Panavision T-Series

Panavision T-Series

Panavision T Series anamorphic lenses combine new optical layouts with mechanical advances adopted from the G Series. T Series attributes include high contrast, balanced aberration control, excellent glare resistance, tightly controlled anamorphic squeeze ratio, and minimal breathing. With their lightweight, compact design, the T Series delivers superior optical quality in an easy-to-use package.

Optimized for digital sensor compatibility while maintaining the imaging characteristics that are part of Panavision’s anamorphic grammar. Larger sweet spot. Typical speed of T2.3 and close focus of 2 feet. (The 60mm focuses to 1.5 feet.) Engraved focus and T-stop scales on both sides of the lens, with gears in the standard Panavision locations.

Panavision Ultra Panatar

Panavision Ultra Panatar

Panavision Ultra Panatar lenses capture a soft, glamorous, classic-looking image with a 1.3x anamorphic squeeze ratio that produces the artistic qualities associated with anamorphic lenses while using more capture area with modern digital sensors. Ultra Panatar lenses focus with cylindrical components, accentuating the anamorphic look much more than an anamorphic lens with spherical mechanisms.

The elliptical bokeh has been manipulated to look like that of a higher compression ratio lens. Ultra Panatars fit any camera that can accommodate Panavision’s System 65 camera mount.
